The Coaching Covenant
The following is a general description of the eCrew Coaching client/coach relationship which continues throughout the duration of the Executive Leadership Coaching contract.
In agreeing to enter into a personal executive leadership coaching relationship, client and coach are agreeing to honor and support the nature of coaching. It is important to recognize and understand coaching as a process—a journey. In that process, change occurs over time, often unevenly. It is also important to recognize and understand coaching as a relationship, which at times may seem demanding. Because your transformation is paramount, the coach will not step over or around issues perceived to be an obstacle to your growth. Most importantly, your willingness to be open, truthful and to share completely is essential to the success of the coaching relationship.
The coaching relationship can be a powerful experience, but the ultimate source of power for your transformation comes directly from you. The coach’s role is to be honest and straightforward with you, ask clarifying questions, keep you focused on your goals, make empowering requests, and hold you accountable to your decisions. Your role is to invest your energy in the process, take action to pursue your goals, and recognize that you are the only person who has the authority to decide upon and implement the strategies you determine as necessary for your transformation.
Additionally, it is important that you feel you are receiving value for the investment you are making. The coach’s experience, education, knowledge, and expertise are at your disposal. However, coaching results are not guaranteed, and you enter into the coaching relationship with the understanding that you are responsible for creating your own results, that you are at free will, and that all final decisions are yours to make. The coach cannot be held liable for any outcomes resulting directly or indirectly from the coaching process. The coach supports you, guides you, and assists you in achieving your goals. However, if at any time you feel uncertain about the coaching process or its value, you must inform the coach immediately so that together you can make positive adjustments and move forward.
All information shared with the coach will be held in the strictest confidence. Under no circumstances will the coach share the nature or content of the discussions with anyone, for any reason, unless it is by your consent.
